About Us
Our Heritage & History
The Beginning
1920
CSC’s story began with the formation of the Lanka Union by Ceylonese students in Singapore. United by a love for cricket and camaraderie, they created a space where sport became the bridge for belonging.
A New Chapter
1928
On 1 June 1928, the Ceylon Sports Club was officially established, reconstituted from the Lanka Union. With 500 founding members, CSC was built on a simple yet powerful mission — to unite the Ceylonese community through sport, fellowship and shared identity.
Resilience Through Adversity
1942–1945
During the Japanese Occupation, the clubhouse at Balestier was destroyed. Yet the spirit of CSC endured. After the war, members rallied together to restore what was lost — a testament to unity, resilience and unwavering pride.
Rebuilding with Purpose
1954
The permanent clubhouse was officially opened, marking a proud milestone in CSC’s history. It stood not only as a building, but as a symbol of renewal and community strength.
Growth & Renewal
1970s–1990s
Facilities were upgraded, new courts were built, and the Club expanded its offerings. Beyond sport, CSC introduced scholarships, mentorship programmes and youth initiatives — strengthening its role as both sporting institution and social anchor.
